Alpine ski racing is a technical sport, placing high demands on the athlete’s skill and motor control. Given the external conditions can change unexpectedly, the technique involved is similar to that of open motor skill sports due to the extremely high variability in these conditions. Variations in course setting, terrain, snow conditions, speed, and visibility all place very high demands on the skier’s ability to adapt technique and tactics effectively.

Planning is the first step to overcoming most obstacles and catering in winter weather is no exception. Getting the team prepped early on so that they can enter the wintry landscape with confidence is essential. Communicate with clients, suppliers and staff about their winter needs. For example, will anything change about the event location (distance from park-and-rides or public transportation, for example)? Will we need to do an extra account check of credit cards or add new ones for security purposes? Employees may need to plan for additional travel time during dangerous conditions or may even be wise to wear extra layers underneath their uniforms.
